JAMESTOWN JOHN CROOKS BAILEY, III, 75, OF JAMES town, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015.Born November 12, 1940, John was the son of the late John and Sophie Richards and grew up in Davidson, NC. He graduated from North Mecklenburg High School and was a 1964 graduate of Guilford College.He began his thirty plus years teaching career at Guilford School (now WesternGuilford) and was an Assistant Principal and athletic coach at Northwest Guilford Junior and Senior High Schools. He was selected as Assistant Principal of the Year by his peers.He served 30 years in the United States Marine Corps Reserves on Active Duty and Reserve time. He participated in four Vietnam Campaigns as an Infantry Officer and was awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for Valor. He also spent several years as an officer in the Greensboro Police Reserves.Of most importance to him was his family and friends who brought much joy to his life.He loved being a Daddy to his daughter, Ellen, his pride and joy. He was a devoted family member and a loyal friend. He was a faithful member of New Life Family Church where he was an Elder and Greeter. He often expressed that he was so blessed to have lived such a fulfilling and happy life. John had a great love for his friends, his family, and his country.On July 31, 1999, he married the former Rebecca Kiser, who survives of the home. Also surviving are three children, Ellen Bailey, of Asheville, Marcus Kiser and wife, Aislynn, of Franklin, TN, and Nicholas Kiser and wife, Haley, of High Point; three grandchildren, Charlee Anne Gray Kiser, Sawyer William Kiser, and Willow Grace Kiser; and one sister, Jane Burts, and husband, Watson, of Charlotte.Memorial service will be 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2015, at the New Life Family Church in Jamestown, 6701 Ken Coy Rd., Jamestown, NC 27282 officiated by Rev. Robert Pavlacka.
